SPORTSMANSHIP/CODE OF CONDUCT
Cardinal Soccer Club asks for your support on the important subject of SPORTSMANSHIP. A serious problem with the lack of respect toward referees and general unsportsmanlike conduct has surfaced occasionally in youth soccer. As administrators, coaches, players, and parents, our behavior and values must bring credit to our program, community, and the sport of Soccer. Please read through the following guidelines and keep foremost in mind the best interest of our children and club members.
CARDINAL SOCCER CLUB SPORTSMANSHIP DECLARATION
Cardinal Soccer Club supports the National Soccer Coaches of America "Code of Ethics and Conduct," which states: "Soccer is a sport which belongs to the players. The game offers physical challenges, emotional satisfaction, lifelong values, and experiences for those who play. SPORTSMANSHIP and ethical values highlighting RESPECT, FAIRNESS, CIVILITY, HONESTY, INTEGRITY, and ACCOUNTABILITY are a foundation for the sport".
We ask that every parent read and abide by this simple code of ethics:
(1) I will encourage good sportsmanship by demonstrating positive behavior and support for all players, coaches, and officials at every game, practice, or other youth sports event.
(2) I will place emotional and physical well-being ahead of any personal desire to win.
(3) I will help create and support a safe and healthy environment.
(4) I will support coaches and officials to provide all a positive, enjoyable experience.
(5) I will demand a drug, alcohol, and tobacco-free sports environment and agree to assist by refraining from their use at all youth sports events.
(6) I will remember that the game is for the benefit of the children and not for adults.
(7) I will do my very best to make youth sports fun.
(8) I will treat other players, coaches, fans, and officials with respect regardless of race, sex, creed, or ability.
(9) I will help promote an enjoyable youth sports experience within my personal constraint by assisting with coaching, being a respectful fan or player, providing transportation, or whatever I can do.

DIVISION ASSIGNMENT
Requests for division changes can be made and evaluated on a case-by-case basis. If you want your child to play in an older division, register in the regular division, then email cscvp.rec@gmail.com requesting a transfer to the older division. Players may play up to a maximum of ONE year. For example, a U8 player may play in a U9-10 division, but a U8 player may not play in a U11-12 division.
The Mentor Community Recreational Center will attempt to create Coed and Girl's divisions. Girls may play in either Coed or Girl's divisions. If girls-only is unavailable, we will transfer your daughter to the appropriate coed team for her age.
TEAM ASSIGNMENT
Siblings typically may play together on the same team. CSC will attempt to honor teammate requests. You may request a limit of one player to play with. Each request will be evaluated individually. Requests made which appear to be used to "stack" a team with talent will not be honored.
GAME SCHEDULES
Games schedules will be provided once they are given to Cardinal Soccer Club. Game days and times will depend on the division your child is playing in.
